Product Description

Synonym: Cyclopenta(c) pyran-4-carboxylic acid, 1,4a-alpha,5,7a-alpha-tetrahydro-1-hydroxy-7-(hydroxymethyl)-, methyl ester or Methyl (1S,2R,6S)-2-hydroxy-9-(hydroxymethyl)-3-oxabicyclo[4.3.0]nona-4,8-diene-5-carboxylate

CAS Number: 6902-77-8

Empirical Formula: C11H14O5

Molecular Weight: 226.227

Genipin is a biocompatible, naturally occurring, biodegradable crosslinking agent for molecules containing primary amines, such as chitosan and proteins (e.g., collagen, gelatin, fresh tissue, and so on). Genipin is much less toxic than many other commonly used synthetic cross-linking reagents. Genipin crosslinked biomaterials have been studied for use in bioadhesives, wound dressing products, vascular grafts, heart valves, and bone substitutes.

    CellPhilic™ Polysaccharide GG Hydrogels (1 gram) catalog # CPGG05-001

Polysaccharide GG Hydrogel is a network of polymer chains of naturally derived polysaccharides, which are highly hydrophilic and can form gels through increasing concentration, adding cationic crosslinking agent, or adding certain natural proteins. This hydrogel series are highly absorbent (they can contain over 98% water). Hydrogels also possess a degree of flexibility very similar to natural tissue, due to their significant water content. The stiffness of this series of hydrogels can be adjusted according to the application.
